More than 1.6 million euros will be invested in the civil sector to combat violence against children in Bulgaria

The Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation will provide funding for projects based on a call for proposals, and the National Network for Children will work to increase the organizational capacity of funding recipients.

A joint project of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF) and the National Network for Children (NNC) will provide targeted grant funding to civil society organisations working in the field of prevention of violence against children through the newly established INSPIRE Fund, as well as a training programme for capacity building of organisations in related fields.  The project will last for three years. For that time WCIF will be responsible for providing funding for the selected projects and NNC will be responsible for building the capacity of the organisations.

Violence against children is a topic that is not on the agenda of our society for various reasons. With the INSPIRE project, WCIF and NNC are bringing the issue in the spotlight and will provide knowledge, skills and financial support for civil society organizations that seek solutions for prevention, but also for effective support for victims, as well as for informing the general public.“, Iliyana Nikolova, Executive Director of the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation

The INSPIRE Fund will provide €1,620,000 in targeted grant funding for local and national projects of civil society organisations (associations, foundations, school boards, community centres) working to reduce violence against children and empower victims of violence. The call for proposals will open in July this year. Representatives of civil society organizations will have the opportunity to participate in 6 in-person information sessions to be held in 6 different locations in the country. Explanations and guidelines on the possibilities to apply for targeted grant funding will be provided during the meetings.

The first information session will be held on June 7, 2024 in Sofia, at Resonator (13, 20 April St.) at 15:30. The next sessions are expected to take place in Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Ruse, Varna and Burgas. The information session in Plovdiv will be organized within the framework of the Annual Meeting of the NNC, which will be held on June 16, 2024. The schedule for the meetings in the other locations will be published on the website of WCIF and here.

Applicant organisations will also receive information on the call for proposals procedures and technical support for the development of a project proposal through additional online meetings. A total of 4 online technical sessions are planned. Two of these will provide assistance on the application process, including submission of the application form, and the other two will focus on the application form and explanation of the methodology to be used to complete it.
